Description

1 Sometime later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

Genesis 22:1-5

In Luke 10:1-4 and Matthew 10:1-9 we read how Jesus sent his disciples out saying, “Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. Don’t take any money with you, nor a traveller’s bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. And don’t stop to greet anyone on the road.” In Luke 12: 22-34 Jesus said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” In this study Clive looks at how this is true for him – a modern day disciple. He discusses how God has provided for him during his unique and challenging journeys, how God’s provision has encouraged him, developed his faith and spoke to many others along the way. Finally we explore Genesis 22:1-19. This well-known story of Abraham on Mount Moriah provides a dramatic picture of faith, obedience and God’s provision. On Mount Moriah God provided for Abraham and on Mount Moriah God provided for us today.

And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus
