Escape and Create Mountain Photography Walks

When considering mountain photography and picture making it is very easy to get bogged down by the technical process, the desire to record sharp images and conform to the so called “rules of composition.” During the escape and create mountain photography walks the rules are forgotten and you are encouraged to think creatively, see the mountain landscape in new ways and produce your own unique images.

Creative days will be spent walking in the mountains, discovering new landscapes and exploring the changing light, colour, shapes, patterns and movement to create dynamic and engaging pictures. To capture a specific effect we will examine exposure, review shutter speeds and aperture size and consider how selective focusing will allow us to isolate elements of the landscape. Perhaps we will expand our view with panoramas, pursue abstract attractions and introduce dynamic effects. We will take the opportunity to throw the rules away, have fun and develop our own unique view point.

The Escape and Create Mountain Photography Walks can be booked on a date to suit you and costs £180 (see the one-to-one details below).

The Escape and Create Mountain Photography Walks are also available on fixed dates. The group size is deliberately kept small, maximum 3, to ensure you have plenty of 1 to 1 time and the opportunity to ask questions. This one day course will last approximately 7-8 hours and provides an opportunity to escape the roadside, discover new locations, be inspired by those around you, develop your photography and have fun with like minded people. The cost of the day is £90 per person

All you need to bring is your camera (filters and tripod if you have them), food and a flask of hot drink.

Escape and Create mountain photography walks can be booked individually, in blocks of two or more or added as an extra day after completing one of our “photography skills for mountaineers” or “mountain skills for photographer” courses.

Our wild camping and dark sky photography courses also provide further opportunities to escape and create exciting and inspirational images. During these camping trips we will visit more remote locations to photograph the sunset, sunrise and night sky. These courses are generally organised around the best times to view the Milky Way, observe meteor showers and see special phenomena such as blood moon, super moon or lunar eclipse. For further details please see our Wild Camping and Golden Hour and Night Photography website pages.

One-to-one Mountain Photography Walks

Are our group dates unsuitable for you? Would you prefer to learn on your own? Do you have a specific location in mind? Then why not book a one-to-one mountain photography walk at a time and location of your choice. Your one-to-one workshop will be tailored to your specific requirements, skill level and interest. A full day one-to-one workshop in the Lake District costs £180. If you would like to increase the number of days providing more time to learn, practice, create and perhaps enjoy a variety of lighting conditions than extra days can be included at £160. If you book a one-to-one day and would like to bring along a friend than each additional photographer will cost £100 (non-photography friends and family are free). Early and late starts are available providing access to the magic hours when the light is at its best and the most stunning images can be captured. Why not include some night time photography and learn to photograph the stars, milky way and if you get the timing right a meteor shower.

A range of accommodation is available in the Lake District and we are happy to help organise this. You could also consider booking a wild camping and  photography course on a one-to-one basis. This is especially enjoyable and beneficial in the summer when the sun sets late and rises early. Please visit our wild camping and photography page for more details.

If you wish to explore an area outside of the Lake District please contact us by e-mail or phone for an informal chat about your requirements.

One-to-one workshops make memorable gifts. If you book a one-to-one workshop as an inspirational gift or for a special occasion you will be provided with a downloadable voucher containing details of the day.

Please e-mail your preferred dates to book your day(s) and arrange payment.
