Last Monday, after a week at home recuperating and spending time with our families, the Pray Wales walk resumed.

In very hot weather we left Cardiff for Merthyr Tydfil. “Wrong directions” led immediately to the most memorable encounters to date. Clive, for the first time, was physically attacked when an 80 year old lady tried to beat and strangle him. While her hands were firmly around his throat, Clive marvelled at how strong an old lady’s grip could be!

This was quickly followed by three young girls who asked many questions about Jesus. One of these girls bravely stood apart from her friends, prayed and asked Jesus into her life.

The following day police instructions forced another route change and we continued in the valleys. We both found the walking very difficult and struggled against a heavy, discouraging spirit which clouded the day and left us both feeling emotionally battered. However, the sight of the cross towering over Aberfan in the valley below helped our resolve.

Please pray for those who live in the valleys, saw the cross and asked themselves why?

‘Devote yourselves to pray, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ….”

Colossians 4:2-3
