Lost and Found

In June 2020 I moved from Cardiff to Kendal. While sorting and preparing for the move I came across many long-forgotten items. During the summer of 2004 I supported and photographed Counties evangelist Clive Cornish during his second walk with the cross. One of the boxes I found while preparing for the move contained a series of newsletters posted during this amazing 720 mile journey.

In 2004 digital cameras were unaffordable, we didn’t have social media and not everyone had easy access to the internet. The newsletters were therefore printed, laminated and displayed weekly as a poster on the Thornhill Church noticeboard.

For those of you who don’t know Clive his cross measures 12ft x 6ft and weighs almost 50lb. Reading these weekly updates brought back many memories and I thought you might also find them interesting. I will therefore post one newsletter a week both here and on Facebook (@316news). I hope you enjoy this look back as much as I did.

Pray Wales Newsletters

Newsletter 1 – 22nd May 2004

Walking through Snowdonia

Two thousand years ago Jesus carried the cross upon which he was crucified.

During July 2003, Clive Carried a similar cross around Wales. He walked nearly 500 miles to remind the people of this nation that Jesus was crucified, died and rose again to save each one of us.

On May 23rd the next Pray Wales walk begins in St David’s. This will take Clive to all the towns in Wales not visited last year. He intends to cover approximately 720 miles over a period of six weeks. Clive’s progress will be reported on the Pray Wales website and in regular newsletters.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16
